John F. Gelson is a respected attorney who has helped clients resolve their disputes for more than 30 years. An experienced trial attorney, he was certified by the New Jersey Supreme Court as a Civil Trial Attorney in 1994 and maintained a practice for over 30 years as a trial attorney in Federal and State Court. In 1995, he was selected by the New Jersey Supreme Court Committee on Complementary Dispute Resolution in 1995 to help develop a state-wide alternative dispute resolution program that offered a viable alternative to the court system. He is the founder of NJ Mediator, and is one of the most experienced and successful Mediators in the State of New Jersey.  Since that time, his practice has been primarily devoted to serving as a Mediator and Arbitrator in Civil matters and as a Court-Appointed Receiver and Discovery Master.  In addition to serving as a Mediator in employment disputes, contract and personal injury matters, he is one of the few Mediators in the State with extensive experience in mediating and resolving complex construction disputes.  He has mediated over 1,000 cases, approximately 85% to settlement.

Mr. Gelson is also Vice President and General Counsel to Jersey Mike’s Franchise Systems, Inc. in Manasquan, NJ, a franchise system with over 1,500 restaurants open and in development.

He has been named in New Jersey Monthly magazine as one of the top Mediators in the State in the field of mediation/arbitration each year from 2005 – 2015. He was recently selected as one of “New York Area’s Best Lawyers” by New York Magazine in the field of Alternative Dispute Resolution. Since 2010 he has been selected for inclusion in Best Lawyers in America in the field of Construction and Employment Litigation.
