Shannon Fury Curtis has been practicing law in the Superior Courts of New Jersey for twenty years.  She has litigated cases on behalf of individuals and corporate clients statewide, with the majority in Ocean and Monmouth Counties.

Shannon’s current practice is focused on Elder Law, Guardianships, Estate and Trust administration and litigation, and Small Business representation.  

A member of the National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA), Shannon is frequently appointed by the Court as counsel and Special Medical Guardian for incapacitated adults. For individuals and their families planning for or suddenly dealing with capacity issues, Shannon provides legal advocacy, guidance and transactional services including Powers of Attorney, Advance Directives for Health Care (living wills), Advance Directives for Mental Health Care and Last Wills and Testaments.

Shannon represented hospitals in risk management, guardianship and involuntary commitment matters for fifteen years. She now does the same for families with loved ones with special needs or dementia. Shannon assists fiduciaries with their required Well-Being Reports and financial accountings.

Shannon also advises small businesses in the retail, service and home improvement industries. In addition to drafting and reviewing contracts, she helps her clients enforce their contracts in Court. Shannon also has significant and successful experience litigating oppressed minority shareholder cases on behalf of both majority and minority shareholders in close corporations.

Shannon Fury Curtis earned her Bachelor of Science from Rutgers University’s Cook College and her Juris Doctor from The George Washington University School of Law. She returned from Washington, D.C. to New Jersey to serve as Law Clerk to the Honorable James D. Clyne, Presiding Judge of the Civil Division of the Superior Court of New Jersey, Ocean County Vicinage.

In 2006 and 2007, Shannon was named a “Rising Star” by New Jersey Super Lawyer’s Magazine, a distinction earned by only 2.5% of the attorneys in the State. 

Shannon resides in Bay Head (Ocean County) with her husband and three children. She is a member of NAELA’s New Jersey Chapter, the Monmouth County Bar Association, an elected member of the Bay Head Board of Education, a Trustee and Past President of the Bay Head School Foundation and a member of the Seaweeders Garden Club of Bay Head and Mantoloking.
